Stretch those brain muscles, baby! I dare you!

Okay, okay, okay. I know I said that I wanted to post something on this blog at least once a month and I know that it’s the last day of February and I’m just getting around to this so I’m really pushing the limits here, but at least I’m following through. The bad news is you, dear reader, may think this blog post was rushed and you would be right. The good news is that I have been working on another creative project. It’s one that I’m really passionate about so that’s where most of my creative attention has been going lately. So glass half full, I might not have been focusing on this blog as of late, but I have been being creative. But because I said I would post at least once a month, here is my current ode to creativity.

If creativity was a person I think I would date them. Creativity is just so fun and interesting to me. Creativity is a form of expression. Being creative allows me to express myself and my history in ways that allow me to keep some level of privacy and share just enough information to get my point across. Whether it’s by listening and sharing music, or writing I find that I can balance privacy and expression in one swoop. As an introvert, I have learned that being creative can help me get out of my comfort zone of staying to myself and allow me to interact with others at a safe distance.

Not only is creativity a great way to interact with others but it also enhances one’s uniqueness. It allows people to individualize themselves from the crowd. In a world where a lot of people want to leave their mark, creativity allows that. To me, creativity is attractive. I am really drawn to anything that positively stimulates my mind and creativity does just that. It forces me to think and sometimes allows my brain muscles to stretch. Yes, creativity is a good mental workout.

Being and getting creative is a gateway to problem-solving. Sometimes, looking at a situation from a creative standpoint can open up a world of different perspectives. I like to think being creative is a kin to thinking outside the box. Getting creative can solve so many problems and it’s so freeing. I just love that!

The thing is creativity is understanding and it’s open for interpretation. That means that creativity does not have to be perfect. I’m sure there are a lot of creative people who feel they need to be perfectionists and that their work needs to be perfect but beauty (creativity) is in the eye (mind) of the beholder. After all, who is the judge of creativity? What’s the standard?

So let’s wrap this up. Creativity is a great problem solver and it focuses people to think. Creativity helps people interact with each other and allows room for individualism. Creativity is a great mental workout and there is no standard by which one needs to measure how creative they are. What’s not to love about creativity?
