Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day

If I want to get to where I’m hoping to go in life, I have to do the work and be patient. “Rome wasn’t built in a day” is such a true statement, but to look at it now, it’s beautiful, ruins and all. I don’t know how this blogging thing is going to turn out. I don’t know if it will become the successful venture that I hope it does, but I do know it’s what I want to do as part of my writing journey. I’ve already incorporated new advances into this blog that I’m excited about, and I’m curious to see where it all leads.
If you haven’t been to Rome, but you ever get the opportunity to go, I strongly encourage you to take it. I went to Rome when my other travel plans fell through, and I don’t regret it. I went to visit Rome to see art, the city, and to get a glimpse of history. I thought, “Back when this city was being built, they were working with basic tools, but they were able to accomplish so much”. Now, we have technology and information literally at our fingertips that we can use to build anything we want, including our skill sets. If they were able to build such a magnificent city so long ago, surely I can work on my blog today; I just have to get out of my own way.
I’m sure when they were building Rome they made plenty of mistakes and, to some degree, they had to learn as they went. That’s how I feel about my writing journey. I don’t have everything figured out, but I’m learning as I go. Seriously, what’s the worst that can happen when it comes to my writing? In some way, I’ll horribly embarrass myself and become the laughing stock of the internet world? Oh well, there are worse things that can happen, I guess. It’s going to take time to figure out how this plays out. In the meantime, I just have to keep at it and work towards what I want.
Like the city of Rome, my blogging venture, and my writing in general, started with an idea. It started in my head. I’m sure at first, people were in doubt that Rome could actually work. I’m sure it took some convincing to get others on board with the concept. Maybe it just started with one or two buildings. People probably complained about having to pay taxes in order for the city to be built. (Don’t worry, I’m not planning on charging a tax for people to read this blog.) I’m just saying I’m sure it wasn’t easy to build Rome, and it’s not going to be easy for me to get this blog off the ground. But the good news is, I’m having fun, and the more I get back to my old self, the more expressive and comfortable I will become during the process. Some of the biggest things come from the smallest ideas. Whatever your passion in life may be, keep going. They do say, after all, “All roads lead to Rome.”
